Inside Volley Tennis Game :
Welcome to the world of Inside Volley Tennis (IVT) !
IVT is a dice driven, point by point yet quick playing game. Each player has a 6x6 matrix for his service game and a 6x6 matrix for service returns. Players are rated for each surface they played on. Servers are rated for Aces & double faults and these results can also be obtained from the returner's card as well.
A point is played out with just 2 rolls of the dice. The first roll determines whose matrix will be used (server or returner) and the second roll is used on that matrix to determine the outcome of the point. It is critical that the server stay ahead in the game otherwise a point won can become a point lost.
There is also a Random Events chart which can result in injuries, equipment failure, bad weather, or player distractions all of which can have an effect on the outcome of the match.
A free Excel Helper/Stat keeper. found below, will keep complete match statistics. You will also be able to print out a professional looking statistics report. All seasons available for IVT come with the top 60 players being rated for that season:
1991 - Stefan Edberg finished the year ranked #1. 1991 also saw a changing of the guard as young players such as Pete Sampras and Andre Agassi were just starting to hit their prime. The old guard saw John McEnroe and Jimmy Connors nearing the end of their brilliant careers.
1992 -
Jim Courier became the first American to finish the year ranked number one since John McEnroe in 1984. Courier won two out of the four Grand Slam titles winning the Australian Open and taking his second French Open title. Courier struggled on the grass at Wimbledon, losing in the third round. In the final Grand Slam of the season, Courier was knocked off in the semis by Pete Sampras.
1993 -
Pete Sampras started his domination of the 1990's by finishing the year ranked #1 for the first time in his career. Sampras' reign at Wimbledon started as he won the first of his 7 Wimbledon titles in 1993. By the end of the year, Sampras had won the second US Open title of his career, giving Sampras two of the four Grand Slam titles in 1993.
2006 -
Roger Federer had perhaps the best season of his career, finishing with a 92-5 record (with 4 of those losses coming against Rafael Nadal) and 12 singles titles. After losing the French Open final against Nadal, Federer went 48-1 the rest of the season.
2007 - Roger Federer finished the year ranked #1. Rafael Nadal was nearly unbeatable on Clay at 31-1.
2008 - Rafael Nadal finally ended Roger Federer's reign at #1. Along with being nearly unbeatable on Clay, Nadal was undefeated on grass knocking off Federer to win the Wimbledon grand slam title. The next generation in tennis also moved up the rankings as Andy Murray, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, and Juan Martin Del Potro finished the year ranked in the top 10.
2009 - Roger Federer enjoyed one of the better seasons of his career as he became the third player in the history of the ATP Rankings (since 1973) to rank year-end No. 1 at least five times, joining Sampras (six) and Connors (five). Federer is only the second player (Lendl in ‘89) to reclaim the year-end top spot after losing it for a year, and he is also the first player to finish in the Top 2 for seven straight years. Federer reached the finals of all the Grand Slam events (winning two of them). Federer also tied Sampras by winning his 14th Grand Slam crown at Roland Garros and in the process completed his career Grand Slam. Nearly one month later he rewrote tennis history at Wimbledon, where he earned his 15th Grand Slam title to put him alone atop the record books.
